Welcome Vatas in the Fourth Trimester.

Welcome Vatas in the Fourth Trimester.

Alright you guys, in my yoga training I learned a lot about Ayurveda and I LOVE IT. I want to share with you a few things to help you understand a little about Ayurveda and how this will help you during The Fourth Trimester :) OK so in the Ayurvedic science world, there are three Doshas or categories we fall into based on our physical characteristics, bodily habits, and living routines. The three types of Doshas are Vata, Pitta and Kapha. According to Ayurvedic science, after having a baby, we all fall into the Vata category. So here are food suggestions to keep us balanced, energized and healthy with our new babe- hello all of my fave things.

  • Spices: Cinnamon, cardamom, cumin, ginger, cloves, and garlic. Grab a pinch and sprinkle into your tea, coffee, oats, cereal, veggies, fish, meats, and ice-cream :)

  • Foods that keep you happy: Anything warm! Cooked cereal (oatmeal), cooked veggies, riped and stewed fruit (peaches, plums, bananas, avocado) avoiding dried fruit, any type of nuts- almonds being the favorite, all dairy and meat with red meat being in moderation, also Vatas are really into chickpeas and cooked rice.

  • The best oils to cook with: Olive oil, Sesame oil and Ghee

Take the quiz to see what Dosha Type you are when not in the Fourth Trimester it’s so fun and you can learn a lot about what to do in your day to day life to keep your mind and body happy and healthy! Goop wrote an amazing article about the Dosha types + lifestyle read it here!
