Service to support, energize and heal postpartum women

What is Normal?

What is Normal?

Can I ask a question? (it’s rhetorical!) How many moms and dads have said during the postpartum period, “I can’t wait to feel normal again, or I can’t wait for things to get back to normal.”

Honestly, when I hear this my heart breaks a little bit!! I think this feeling of “not feeling normal” is the root of baby blues, postpartum depression and postpartum anxiety.

In the medical world, we really aren’t supposed to report findings as “normal.” Like what is normal anyway?! I really don’t think there is such a thing!! So what is real in the Fourth Trimester, is you’re entering a new season of life. In other seasons we accommodate, in the cooler months we put on a cute hat and scarf and when it warms up we pull out our cutest top and peeped toes for that sweet sunshine. So lets do the same for this season of The Fourth Trimester.

Instead of saying “I cant wait until things go back to normal,” I invite you to be present. Allow yourself to adjust. Let it unfold. It’s a beautiful season to enjoy the small, slow and special moments. Be patient with yourself, your significant other and your new babe.

 Xoxo
