Enough Milk?

Enough Milk?

Hi hunny bunnies and yes I have been calling everyone I am close to a hunny bunny lately. So I like to think, you who are reading my posts are close to me as well so yes I am calling you a hunny bunny too!

So ok anyway, this is my thought that I became enlightened by tonight and want to share it with you

Many moms in the immediate Postpartum Period say to me they are worried they are not giving their baby enough breast milk or formula, “they still seem hungry”

So here is the thing, if you are breastfeeding, you are giving your baby your Colostrum, your Golden Milk! This is all you got until your mature milk comes 2-3 days Postpartum. And your Colostrum is one hundred and twenty percent enough for your babe <3

If you are formula feeding we encourage and only rec giving your baby 10-15mls per feed in the first day of birth because your babes belly is so tiny that if baby is overfed their little belly can’t handle and will spit it up + could develop gas pains

I think this is why it is “Normal” (as much as I really dislike saying that word”) for babies to loose 7-10% body weight if you are breast feeding and 5% body weight if you are formula feeding in the first 5-7 days of birth

I must say if you are at all concerned about your baby’s weight gain speak to your baby’s Pediatrician but hope I gave you a little peace of mind too
